Corona Virus: More than 60 Events Affected in the World. Big blow for sports and its fans.

More than 60 events of 17 sports have been affected due to the corona virus spread in more than 70 countries.  

England cricket team captain Joe Root has said that his team will not join hands with the players on the tour of Sri Lanka. 

The American Basketball League NBA has asked players not to shake hands with fans.  

Switzerland has postponed the Swiss Super League.  However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has made it clear that the Tokyo Olympics will take place on schedule.

Corona virus affected 17 events: 

1. ARCHERY

International Celebrity Championship to be held from 22 to 28 February in Dhaka.  The World Cup in Shanghai from May 4 to 10 was canceled.

 2. ATHLETICS

  The World Indoor Championships to be held in Nanjing from March 13 to 15 were postponed to next year.  The Hong Kong Marathon, held on February 9, the Asian Indoor Championships to be held in Hangzhou from February 12 to 13, was canceled. 

3. AUTO RACING

   Formula One Chinese graphy postponed to 19 April.  Formula E-Pre to be held in Sanya, Thailand-Qatar Moto GP canceled.

 

4.  BADMINTON

 China Masters postponed from 25 February to 1 March.  China and Hong Kong withdrew from the Asia Team Championship in Manila.  German Open to be held in Mulheim from 3 to 8 March.

5. HOCKEY

 The Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament, to be held from April 11 to 18, was postponed.  China's Pro League matches against Belgium in February and Australia in March were postponed.

6. GOLF

 Honda LPG tournament canceled in Thailand from 20-23 February.  Women's World Championship to be held from March 27 to 1 in Singapore and the Blue Bay LPG tournament in Hainan Island in March.

 7. GYMNASTICS

 China withdrew from the Artist World Cup to be held in Melbourne from 20 to 23 February.

8. JUDO

 Paris Grand Slam from 8–9 February, China removed from Dusseldorf Grand Slam from 21–23 February.

9. FOOTBALL

  The Asian Champions League matches in April-May were postponed.  Audience banned in 2022 World Cup qualifiers.  Chinese Super League, K League, J League Postponed.

 10. SWIMMING

  Asian Water Polo Championship, Diving World Series Canceled.  China's Olympic trial postponed.

 11. TABLE TENNIS

 World Team Championship adjourned.

  D.  Korea Open and Australian Open canceled.

 

12. TENNIS

 WTA Xian Open to be held from 13 to 19 April.

13. TRIATHLON

   The Olympic mixed relay qualifier to be held in China on May 9 will be held in Spain on May 1. World Cup in China postponed.

14. VOLLEYBALL

 The beach volleyball World Cup in China in April was postponed.  

15. WEIGHTLIFTING

 The Asian Championship to be held in Kazakhstan in April will now take place in Uzbekistan.

16. WRESTLING 

Three teams were eliminated from the Asian Championship held in Delhi.

17. TAEKWONDO

 Asia Olympics to be held in China in April,

 The qualifier will now be in Jordan.
